NHK World Official Facebook page revealed the release date of
Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san Anime to be in February 2021. The anime
will broadcast internationally on NHK WORLD-JAPAN. The anime also released a
new preview.
No further details about the adaptation have been revealed.
Maiko-san chi no Makanai-san (舞妓さんちのまかないさん) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Aiko Koyama. The series started publishing in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine in December 2016.
The story goes like this, Within the winding streets of Kyoto's geisha district, there lives a 16-year-old girl named Kiyo. After failing to become a Maiko, an apprentice traditional Japanese performer, Kiyo works as the caterer for her troupe. This is the story of her daily life.
