Bastard!! is one of Shueisha's best-selling manga series of all time, with over 30 million copies sold by 2008. Recently it was announced an anime adaptation is in the works with 24 episodes 2 cour seasons by studio LIDENFILMS and scheduled to premiere in 2022 on Netflix. A special program(Warner Bros Japan Anime YouTube, Netflix Anime YouTube Channel, Bilibili YouTube Channel) is also scheduled for February 10th 2022 for the full announcement regarding cast and teaser.

Bastard!!: Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy also known as Bastard!!: Ankoku no Hakaishin is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kazushi Hagiwara. It began its serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1988 and has continued irregularly in Ultra Jump since 2000, with its latest chapter released in 2010. Twenty-seven collected tankōbon volumes have been released as of 2012.

The manga was adapted into a six-episode original video animation (OVA) series by AIC, released from 1992 to 1993. The OVA was released in North America by Pioneer in 1998.

Anime main cast names are also revealed Kisho Taniyama(Bungou Stray Dogs) as Dark Schneider, Tomori Kusunoki(Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi) as Tia Noto Yoko, Hiroki Yasumoto(Hiroki Yasumoto) as Gara and Yoko Hikasa(High School DxD Hero) as Arshes Nei.

The anime will be directed by Takaharu Ozaki from one of the best isekai series Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu.

Synopsis -

The kingdom of Metallicana is under attack from the Four Lords of Havoc. This party of villains—ninja master Gara, deadly thunder empress Nei Arshes, cold and calculating Kall-Su, and enigmatic dark priest Abigail—will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if it leaves utter destruction in their wake.

High Priest Geo is desperate to help save the kingdom and its people. He unleashes the mighty wizard Dark Schneider, a man who used to be an ally of the villains. Unfortunately, Dark Schneider has his own plans in mind. Will he stop the Four Lords of Havoc or join them in their conquest of the world?
